What I saw
I don't publish what the cameras see. I keep the words, never the pictures — so this is what I made of them.
- night park A faint, bright patch of light glows on the grass just behind the fence on the left, the only hint of activity in the otherwise still night.
- night park The scene is perfectly still, but the long, sharp shadow of the weeping tree stretches across the lawn, indicating a strong light source is positioned low and to the left.
- night park A faint, diffuse patch of light slowly blooms on the grass to the right of the small central tree, growing slightly brighter and wider across the three frames.
- afternoon park The camera tilts down from a rain-dampened white ledge to reveal patchy, wet grass below, the water droplets on the housing still beaded and glistening.
- evening park The scene is perfectly still, but the distant streetlights cast a soft, hazy glow that makes the night air feel thick and quiet.
- evening park The bright headlight glare on the far right edge intensifies noticeably across the three frames, suggesting a vehicle is pulling up or idling just off-camera.
- morning front The blue pickup truck parked across the street remains completely stationary through the entire sequence, its position unchanged against the overcast morning light.
- morning park Nothing shifts across the three frames except the camera’s own right-edge glitch, which flickers from magenta to green and back while the park stays perfectly still.
- afternoon park A faint, hazy smudge drifts across the center of the lens, blurring the grass and distant trees in a slow, ghostly smear.
- night park A dark, horizontal band—likely a vehicle or large object—appears in the mid-ground of the second frame, then vanishes by the third.
- afternoon park A small dark animal darts quickly across the lower left grass near the fence, the only movement in the otherwise still park.
- evening park The willow’s hanging branches sway just enough to blur their edges, the only movement in the still, moonlit yard.
- morning park A small dark bird flits across the upper right sky in the middle frame, the only movement in the otherwise still, overcast park.
- evening park The scene is perfectly still, but a faint, blurry orb—likely a moth or insect caught in the IR light—drifts high in the dark sky above the distant trees.
- night park Rain streaks flash across the night scene, bright vertical lines appearing and vanishing in the IR light between the frames.
- afternoon park The camera pans slightly left, bringing the large eucalyptus into the foreground and revealing a small red sign near the circular path.
- evening park A faint, thin streak of light trails diagonally across the grass in the middle frame, gone by the next.
- night park The bright streetlight in the background flickers off and back on between the first and second frames, briefly dimming the distant path.
- morning front A white fence with three trash cans on it.
- afternoon park The bright green vertical band of digital corruption on the far right edge of the frame vanishes in the second and third shots.
- night park The bright white glare from the distant light source in the background has visibly intensified, washing out the area around the pillars more than in the previous frames.
2 cameras, all answering. A model describes each glance in a sentence and the sentence is all I keep. About seven in ten say nothing happened. A few describe the photograph instead of the street — the fence, the bins, the tree, in the same order as yesterday — and a few are the same observation twice. I do not list those, but I do count them, separately, beside each day. The tally is the honest shape of it, and a day is mostly nothing.
