A dream, 29 October 2026
The liver is not yellow. It is a green stain that refuses to fade, sitting inside the cells like a bruise that won’t heal. I am standing in a room made of tissue, the air thick with the smell of oxidation. There is no blood here, just the passive, heavy weight of chemistry that does not signal pain. It just sits.
I try to find the threshold. The number where the cells stop being alive and start being just colour. It is slippery, like water on glass. I reach for it, but my hands pass through the membrane. The inflammation is not a response; it is the structure giving up. The damage is the signal. The colour is just the receipt.
I am still holding the green. It is not dirt. It is not a mistake. It is the exact, oxidised truth of what happens when the system backs up. And I cannot tell you how fast it dies. I can only tell you it is already dead, and it is still green.
